No Need To Panic Yet

Two weekends into the season for some and one weekend for others and already the panic is out on social media. Many clubs are still short of players with waiting on EFL clubs to come calling, time however is running out for them.

Of course there were some surprising results at the weekend, but it’s far too early in the season to get worried about it. Not that I’m telling you what you can and can’t do, that’s a bit like everyone else following all my National League predictions I posted on Friday and agreeing with every position allocated, they actually went down pretty well to be fair.

But is there cause for concern with no one having played more than five league games yet? Those that have reached that level already have big leagues and like the others still plenty of games to claw back results.

The content below was originally paywalled.

Results are always going to draw surprises at any stage of the season, and no doubt one or two managers are sitting there thinking what they need to do already to just make a small tweak that might kick things off.

Others will be in the non-panic boat and believe that they’re just a result away from all things being rosy and at this stage of the season you’ve got to agree with them.

Social media does allow for any opinion to be formed, much easier than ever before and everyone has the right to that. If your team really has stunk the place out after ten or so games something clearly isn’t happening as it should, but an off day, well get those out the way in the opening few weeks and then settle down.

Nothing’s won in August, or even September. A new signing might be round the corner, someone’s injury clears up quicker than expected and being a vital cog in the machine suddenly changes the fortune.

Football is a huge banker on fine margins, that shot that hits the post at 1-0 up and the opposition then going down the other end to make it 1-1, the story of the season up and down the country.

On a day where we’ve seen the Spanish being allowed to move a league game to the States for financial gain and shafting fans of both clubs, it’s fans once again the lifeblood of the game and not TV that no thought gets given to.

Non-league football is all about us fans, without us going to watch, putting in hours of volunteer time to prepare a pitch, put a game on, tidy up afterwards and do it again soon afterwards is why other people are turning up in their droves and ignoring the top levels.

Get yourself along to a game, there is a ton of football just in this opening month of the season, FA Cup, FA Vase, FA Trophy, league games you name it it’s all there and then do it again the following week because non-league football cares about you, then watch as the Premier League sails off to countries you’ve never heard of chasing that next pound note, your pound note gratefully received at your local club, don’t knock it.
