Time running out to show some interest

I’m sitting here writing still with a wait for the retained list from Barnet FC on Saturday evening and it’s triggered a little bit of debate this week when I’ve asked on Twitter why isn’t it up yet for all to see.

Some see it as not important, others want to know, what does it matter is the question I’ve been asked as the week’s gone on. I know some of it because I’ve had a chat with Dean Brennan last Sunday evening and I’ve shared a few bits, don’t believe I should share everything that’s a club communication surely?

The content below was originally paywalled.

I care about which players are still here next season part of the rebuild to make us improve further, there are deadlines within that list for a couple. If there’s no issue with the list why has Tony sat on it since before the Bromley game? Yes the players will know and I am surprised we’ve not seen anything on their socials but I’m also not surprised if there’s a clause forbidding them to talk about it!

But let’s be honest it’s not just the retained list as supporters we’re still waiting to find out about, what are the admission prices going to be set at and more importantly for some season ticket prices.

The current cost of living does mean people are on really tight budgets, they want to know if that ticket is affordable for them in the grand scheme of things, some clubs had their details out before the season ended, others this week so why can’t we just communicate these things? Surely we’ve had this worked out for weeks yet once again we don’t seem to be able to follow the realms of a proper football club.

It’s almost as if we as a club want sub-1000 home support next season because we can’t be bothered to engage with the fan base again despite the effort of the Supporters Association to try and bridge the gap.

Dean spoke honestly last Sunday evening about what he wants to achieve, giving the supporters a team and a club to be proud of once again, it’s been a while since we’ve had that and if we’re honest it’s that brief spell under Darren Currie, the only time in the last five years.

For some none of the above will matter, just getting to pre-season and then starting the next one but these few weeks coming up will determine the type of club you’ll be watching next season, is this really the route we’re going down again? Do you want a top 10 club or an 18th place finish again because that is the stark reality.

I’ve a timeline in my head of when I will know whether Tony Kleanthous still has any interest in this club, the days are ticking away but in my opinion the signs are not promising…..
